The 5340, 5360, 6930, and 6940 IP Phones, the 6970 IP Conference Phone and the 5560 IPT provide programmable multi-function keys for one-touch feature access. You can program three of these keys as float keys. Float keys are typically used to display unanswered ringing lines on designated keys where the ringing lines would otherwise be hidden on one of the phone's application pages. The Float keys are located in the upper-right row of keys on all supported sets. The graphic below shows their location on the 5340.

5xxx sets can have up to three concurrent incoming calls with associated labels appearing on the Float keys. The labels are presented in reverse video (white on black background). Float keys can also be used to support ringing line queues allowing you to see unanswered "floated" lines and answer them as quickly as possible.
Floats keys for the 6930 occupy the six right-hand programmable keys, creating a six position float queue.
Float keys for the 6940 occupy the two right-hand columns, creating an eight position float queue. The user must swipe over the programmable key area to page through the two left-side columns of keys.

Float keys for the 6970 occupy the column on the right side of the separator line which separates the programmable keys from the float keys, creating a eight position float queue.

The float queue remains visible at all times regardless of what page you are on within the phone application. Opening another application, such as Call History, will cover up the Float keys.
Only the following line types are supported for float keys:
Single Line
Key System
Multicall
The single directory number on the MiVoice Business system to which the Float Key functionality is associated can be either a registration DN or a mobile DN.
Programmed float keys are resilient.
Multiple users cannot Hot Desk into a set that is programmed with Float keys.
Float keys are not supported on PKMs. However, line keys on PKMs can appear as float keys on other devices, except the 5340 IP Phone.
All supported sets can be programmed with Float keys from the System Administration Tool. The 5560 can also be programmed from the set and from the Desktop Tool. The 5340 and 5360 can be programmed only from the set.
For 5340, 5360 IP Phones, and the 5560 IPT, set "Ringing Line Select" to No (Not applicable for 6930, 6940 IP Phones and the 6970 IP Conference Phone).
(Optional) Set "Display DNIS on Key Label" depending on whether you want to display DNIS instead of call party ID information (the default) on float key labels.
Assign float keys using either of the following forms:
You program the Float Keys using the Settings application.
You can program the Float Keys as a virtual mirror of any of the lines programmed on the programmable keys. The Float Keys reflect the state of those lines including indicators and labels, and allow you to access those lines without having to navigate to the pages where those keys are displayed. Any answered floating line remains floating for the duration of the call, regardless of the manner in which it was answered.

You can set up as many lines as you want to float. As lines ring, they get placed into a queue which will display the first three (or whatever the limit is for the set) in the float key area. If there are more lines than the limit configured to float, as Float Key positions are freed up, the next lines in the queue get displayed. Press the Float key of the ringing line to answer a call.
